Assets Engineer (Asset Management Specialist)

Job Summary:
Coordinate activities related to ensuring identification and accountability of laboratory equipment assets in accordance with the laboratory equipment asset management lifecycle and applicable policies and procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
Performs necessary system transactions to support acquisition, tracking, locating and disposal of laboratory equipment assets.
Serves as liaison to warehouse receiving to ensure all laboratory equipment and other tractable laboratory assets are properly received, documented and tagged (bar-coded).
Maintains Laboratory’s Equipment Asset Management System (LocS/SAP) records for all laboratory equipment assets.
Plans and performs laboratory equipment inventory and audit activities in coordination with laboratory staff and finance personne
Coordinates the accurate and timely recordkeeping and generation of standardized reports to include physical inventories, loss reports, financial reporting, equipment status, critical incidents, etc.
Coordinates and prepares appropriate forms and/or documentation such as movement, transfers, installations, purchase orders, etc.
Tracks laboratory equipment utilization rates and maintains equipment surplus lists.
Facilitates and tracks movement/transfer of equipment within and between laboratories or other facilities.
Ensures authorization for property acquisition and/or disposal is documented and conducted in compliance with laboratory asset management policy.
Serves as liaison to finance relating to the valuation and depreciation of laboratory equipment.
Assists in the completion of all closeout related activities for retired laboratory equipment including disposition of property, final termination inventory, completing and submitting closeout documentation, etc.
Maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, users, vendors, and other agencies.

Technical Skills
Experience using computerized property / inventory / ERP systems preferred.
Certification from the National Property Management Association or Australian Asset Management Council preferred.
Non-Technical Skills or Attributes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent command of the English language (read, write and speak English).
Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, with strong attention to detail.
Physical activity requiring bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and extensive walking
Required Education Bachelor's degree in related field.

Three to Four years of related experience
